Laser soldering with diode lasers in the near infrared ( 808nm , 915nm , 940nm, 980nm ) causes problems if the parts to be soldered are highly reflective.
Blue lasers with a wavelength of 445nm or 450nm have a higher absorption with gold and copper.
Therefore, a blue laser can preheat these components well for the first time and thus perform accurate soldering.
We see considerable improvement in the soldering of
- Gold plated pads
- Bare copper wire on pads
- Soldering of THT components with through hole
Mergenthaler's laser soldering laboratory is equipped with classic NIR diode lasers as well as blue lasers - of course all combined with LASCON controllers and coaxial pyrometers.
